The Welcome to Jamrock Reggae Cruise (WTJRC) will once again unite Reggae lovers from across the world, with a sold-out staging, a year in advance of the six-day cruise.
Hosted by Damian ‘Jr Gong’ Marley and scheduled to leave Fort Lauderdale on Monday, December 9, 2019, the sixth annual staging promises to be an uplifting experience of togetherness, with exceptional performances. The one-of-a-kind musical experience offered by the Cruise again offers a stellar musical line-up and hearty activity package that is sought-after worldwide.
According to Rolling Stone online magazine, WTJRC is testament of the evolving music industry, which has led artistes to find creative ways to share experiences with their fans.
The Grammy Award-winning artiste expressed surprise at the overwhelming support the cruise has attracted without the announcement of the official line-up.
“This is a great feeling. I am very happy and surprised at the support. We didn't think that it would be selling out this quickly with so little advertising and promotion,” Gong explains.
“Over the five years, we’ve stayed true to the line-up being of a certain calibre. We try to deliver a great package each year that people can anticipate and appreciate,” he explained.
In the case of WTJRC, Damian Marley shares that fans are afforded “24/7 experience of their favourite Reggae and Dancehall icons over five days”, boasting sweet reggae music, reverberating dancehall, sound clashes, domino tournaments, football competitions and a host of other activities.
Reflecting on the 2018 cruise, Reggae’s youngest veteran said the dynamic line-up last year was an asset.
Taking to the seas on December 1, 2018, the fifth staging hosted acts such as King Jammy; Tarrus Riley; Shenseea; Jah Cure; Queen Ifrica; Ken Boothe; Konshens; Third World; Sly & Robbie; Kabaka Pyramid; Horace Andy; Aidonia; Leroy Sibbles; Mr Vegas; Bounty Killer; Stone Love Sound; and the five musical Marley brothers Ziggy, Julian, Kymani, Stephen and Jr Gong.
