WeePow delivers for Stone Love 45th Anniversary Party

Shaggy took time out of his performance on stage at Stone Love 45th Anniversary
to congratulate WeePow on a job well done with the Immortal Stone Love Sound System.
Like a proud father at his child’s graduation, Winston ‘WeePow’ Powell stood at stage right watching the smooth sailing of the Stone Love 45th Anniversary on Saturday, December 30.

Staged at Sabina Park, Stone Love Anniversary the milestone event to end 2017 brought out long-time supporters, diplomats, and millennials, who came for the music experience.

Prepared for a long night, patrons started strolling in from 8:00 pm; some with chairs to mark what would be their territory for the show. The bar service accommodated for all the “flossing” expected at a Stone Love event, while jerk-pan sellers, nuts vendors, and candy men maintained all the aromas of any good street dance.

Patrons took in the early musical offerings from DJ Welton Irie and Alanzo Hawk.  This only increased when the turntables were handled by DJ Cha Cha, who was followed by DJs Crazy Chris, Allan Lad, and Digital.

Representing Metro Media, a slimmer Sky Juice lived up to his engaging and entertaining reputation with fellow DJ Oliver. Rebel T followed, and they passed the musical baton over to selector Boom Boom.

Being the last disc jock to take the stage before the performers, Boom Boom made the Stone Love Anniversary stage his own. With short, witty intros to every selection, patrons were 100 per cent enthralled by his set; he even invited a couple of females on stage to prove his dominance and stamina vocally and physically.

Shortly after 4:00 am, Wee Pow was now ready to bring on the first performer and host Nikki Z did justice to each of their introductions. Short Boss, Abby Dallas and Dann-I graced the stage before making way for Admiral Bailey and Tony Curtis from Lust.

“We got off to a late start, but I am just grateful really that the crowd enjoyed for the performances. I was pleased to see all those who turned up and we are already looking forward to the next staging. As a family, we will continue to work to maintain The Immortal Stone Love Sound,” shared WeePow.

All with limited time to impress the packed venue, the sets were smooth sailing with each performer rinsing their top tracks. There was no rush, however, with the surprise performance from Shaggy, and his partner Wyclef Jean, out to promote the biennial Shaggy and Friends charity event.

The screams from the crowd made the appearance even more exciting as Shaggy and Wyclef showed off their freestyle skills on rhythms selected by Stone Love DJ Randy Rich and Gugu Mental.

Pausing to give his respects to founding father of Stone Love WeePow, Shaggy implored local artistes to look to Stone Love and strive to build their individual brands to be one as respected and sustainable as Stone Love.

Elephant Man who was spotted inside the venue showed great support by the bar.
Fans were able to revel with Elephant Man in the venue. Jahmiel, Mavado, I-Octane, Wayne Wonder and Sizzla received screaming affirmations of love from the ladies before Bush Man closed the show at minutes after 6:00 am.
Sizzla put his stamp of fire on the Stone Love 45th Anniversary stage
Stone Love celebrated their 45th Anniversary at Sabina Park on Saturday, December 30 where a set of versatile patrons turned out in hundreds to support the Immortal Stone Love Sound which proved that they are Forever Young.
