Stone Love Anniversary returns to Red Stripe Oval

On December 24, 2016, the immortal Stone Love sound will host the annual anniversary celebration to be headlined by Rodney “Bounty Killer” Pryce. This year’s highly anticipated session will be hosted at the Red Stripe Oval, 214 Spanish Town Road.

Marking 44 years of Stone Love on the dancehall scene, the Stone Love Movement celebrates many achievements and accolades as a cultural icon.

Guinness Brand Manager Imru James, is proud of his brand’s association with the renowned sound system. “When you think about Guinness, you think about dancehall, when you think about Stone love, you think about dancehall. Both brands are a fundamental part of the fabric that makes up dancehall and it is only a natural fit that we continue to support our family members as they grow from strength to strength. 44 years in the industry is no joke and Stone Love has paved the way for a multitude of other sound systems,” he explained.

Visionary, Winston “Wee Pow” Powell also called Fada Pow, started Stone Love as a 'house set' in 1972. With a passion for music and his work, the brand has evolved into dancehall's top sound system and continues to matriculate as it improves with the technological and cultural shifts the music industry faces.

“We stay focused on why and where we started so we keep that authentic sound but we also bring in young talents who also understand that the music and the culture are very fluid and our thing must consistently be on top,” explained Powell.

Stone Love has played a major role in bringing dancehall to the international stage in 1990s. Today, it remains the hallmark sound, maintaining its relevance since its inception. The sustenance of the sound is credited to the talented DJs which range from the seasoned DJ Geefus to newest selectors Gugu Mental and Randy Rich. Such talents are further enhanced by the indisputable high quality of the sound system.

In addition to hosting its annual anniversary celebration, which was also launched in Miami for the 42nd celebration, Stone Love hosts the most renowned weekly party series, Weddy Weddy Wednesdays, which is seen as an authentic dancehall event celebrated worldwide.

The event is highly anticipated and Guinness promises an enhanced experience. “Patrons can come out and expect the usual Guinness standards, beastly cold Guinness, awesome deals at the bar, prizes for the best dressed ladies, top class selecting and world class performances”, expounded James.

Patrons can look forward to a true dancehall experience this Christmas Eve at the Red Stripe Oval for Stone Love’s annual Anniversary celebration event.
