Chronixx and Zincfence Redemption Open Renovated Levels at Skyline

Chronixx and Zincfence Redemption will bring the newly refurbished venue at Levels, Skyline to life on Friday, October 9 with an acoustic performance dubbed, Chronixx and Zincfence Redemption Live. The artiste who will be the first to perform at the venue since its expansion is preparing a show that allows fans to see him up close and personal.

“I want to take the audience into the realm of the production of the songs which means they are going to hear sounds that they do not normally hear in a regular show. They are going to get the opportunity to focus on certain aspects of the music that as listeners they probably bypass by just listening frivolously,” the artiste explained.

The artiste believes that the atmosphere of the small venue, owned by renowned lead singer of the Chakula Band, Errol McDonald, adequately lends itself to the plans of the Behind Curtains singer whose aim is to allow people to experience music in its purest form. “It is not going to be talking and explanation it is going to be a performance of the song from the ‘in the making’ perspective. Skyline is intimate and people are going to get to see Zincfence records, Chronixx, Zincfence Redemption and Teflon on stage for the first time,” the artiste said.

The show will also feature Jahkime and Silkki Wonda with a special performance of their new single, Black Marcus.

Levels at Skyline is a limited capacity venue and the Chronixx Music Group is encouraging  patrons to purchase presold tickets for the event at a cost of $1,200.00 at Mi Hungry, Market Place, Veva, Bob Marley Museum or Natural Touch, Orchid Village Plaza. Tickets can also be purchased at the gate on event day for $1,500.00. The organizers want to ensure more enjoyment for patrons and as such will start at 8:00pmsharp.

The series ‘Live at Levels’ that has been staged since 2014 has featured artistes, Keznahmdi, Kelissa, Christopher Martin and more. Chronixx who staged the first leg of his Capture Land Jamaica Tour in March performing in Negril, St. Elizabeth, Portland and Kingston is continuing his journey to educate fans and the world of the true form of music. Chronixx and Zincfence Redemption continue the lessons on Friday, October 9 at Levels, Skyline Drive, Jacks Hill, St. Andrew.

Bunji Garlin and Damian Marley Team Up to Deliver The Message

Trinidadian soca star Bunji Garlin and Jamaican Grammy-winning reggae artist Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley team up on The Message, a passionate forward-thinking song fighting for the souls of our youth and the future generation.

The two Caribbean artists merge soca, dancehall and reggae into a universal sound on this world cry anthem, produced by Philip "Jr. Blender" Meckseper. They go verse for verse addressing society's illls and Marley delivers a powerful hook aspiring for change. "There is music in your soul, minerals in your soil, children full of beauty worth way much more than oil. While history unfolds, don't let the good things spoil, oh no."

Bunji Garlin gives more insight behind the collaboration."We recorded this song at Gong's studio in Florida. It was a 4am studio session after we spent about an hour and a half just talking and getting a vibe off of each other's knowledge, views and energies. I appreciate the project and artist because we were able to let both our musical backgrounds work for us to execute this. It is almost a fable to see the son of reggae legend and also a legend in his own right and artist of the soca genre meld so effortlessly."

Marley is slated to perform in Garlin's homeland on Friday, October 30 in Tobago at Pigeon Point and Saturday, October 31 at Hasley Crawford Stadium in Trinidad and Tobago.

Sean Paul’s Full Speed Riddim set to blaze the video scene with a masterful Heist

Sean Paul’s Dutty Rock Productions in collaboration with Image Development Studios brings the Full Speed Riddim to life on the big screen in a ‘heist’ featuring Beenie Man, Ding Dong, Elephant Man, Future Fambo, and Mink Jo on Friday September 18. The Full Speed Riddim Medley Video will be released at 12:00noon EST on YouTube.

The highly anticipated Full Speed Riddim medley video stacks over 80 years of Dancehall Industry experience under its belt spanning from the launch of Veteran Dj Beenie Man’s career to upcoming artiste Mink Jo’s arrival this year.  But what truly makes the Full Speed Riddim medley video stand out, is its story and style.

Director of Photography and Director Gareth Cobran, of Image Development Studios, shared that the most surprising fact for audience members will be that the entire video was shot in one location, Sterling Sound Stage, with five amazing sets. According to Cobran,” the challenge with medley videos is finding cohesive visuals to complement each track, however, with this one; Dutty Rock Productions put together four tracks that really work well together visually. The Elephant Man and Fambo track Money was kicked off with a ‘heist ‘concept and everything else kind of fell into place.” In this heist themed movie, each track is a scene in the heist and each artiste plays a different role in the heist.  Mink Jo plays the lookout; Ding Dong is the getaway driver and wild card; Elephant Man and Future Fambo are the crew on the job and the mastermind is played by none other than Beenie Man.

Future Fambo, raves that the props used as well as the futuristic treatment are definitely the video’s most standout elements. Always about keeping it positive Fambo highlighted that “we don’t judge artistes by how they look, but by their sound, vibes and the lyrics they put out.” In fact, he described the time spent with his co-stars on set as pure vibes. Fambo believes that it is indeed a good video and that Sean Paul did a good job in producing it. Fambo further shared that the track he created with Elephant Man was actually a combination of talent and chance. “Me and Elephant jus buck up at the studio and Sean Paul said it would be nice if I sang the verse and Elephant Man sang the hook because both our voices have similar frequency,” disclosed Fambo. The artiste will be releasing his next single Wavy from his album Wavy It’s Crazy shortly.

For Mink Jo, the experience has been “an opportunity of a lifetime for an upcoming artiste,” she said. A milestone in fact; as it is her first video. She revealed that she felt “blessed to be working in the industry and to be amongst the veterans,” and “hopes that people will like the song and video.” She continues to work on her recently released album Boy. Girl. Love.

Full Speed Riddim was produced by international, Grammy Award winning superstar Sean Paul and was released in two parts this year; in January and May respectively. Full Speed Riddim is Sean Paul's third project on his Dutty Rock Label, which was formed in 2011. Other videos released on this Riddim include: Denyque’s Ring the Alarm and Sean Paul's Take it Low.

Magma, Ruffi-Ann stars at Redbones Café

Reggae music is like fine wine, it gets better with age. Such was the feeling for the very attentive crowd, at the recently held Live Reggae show featuring Prince Alla and Kiddus I in Concert on Saturday, September 5 at Red Bones Café, in New Kingston.

The event, co-organized by Green Fa Life and Redbones, made its debut with a mixture of old and new Reggae energy with Bermudan reggae star Magma and female sensation Ruffi-Ann leading the charge.

Magma, whose real name is Adam Mayo, delivered a stirring set with favourites such as Emanuel, Love Life and particularly Mother and Child Reunion. A new single, Hay Now, released last month on his own label Molten Rock also received a warm reception. His four-song segment was melodic and harmonious.

The Reggae firestorm said he was especially impressed with the audiences’ attentiveness. “I feed off the crowd’s energy when I am on stage and the crowd gave so much love. They absorbed the music and connected with my message and I give thanks for that. I can stand my own but it gives you more energy when the crowd is energetic and that was the case tonight,” he said.

Ruffi-Ann’s Save the Juvenile ignited the crowd and opened a very fiery set for the Reggae singer who paved the way for the more seasoned Donovan Josephs. K Vibes and Hugh English.  Patrons were enthralled by Prince Alla and Kiddus I who delivered a natural uplifting Reggae set.

The artistes were supported by the backing band Inna De Yard Band.
