Weddy Weddy Celebrates 11 Years

The action packed, entertainment powerhouse, Weddy Weddy, celebrates 11 successful years with a special anniversary party on Wednesday, July 29.

The party is the longest running event of its kind still operational and will be held at Stone Love Headquarters, 41 Burlington Avenue, Kingston 10, will be hosted by Dj, Geefus and feature the ‘Immortal Sound’, Stone Love along with Boom Boom, Digital Chris and Bass Odyssey. Patrons will be taken on a journey through the musical genres by veteran DJs such as Rory and Billy Slaughter as well as live performances by special guest artistes.

Numerous sponsors have joined the venture and this year's Miss Weddy Weddy will be crowned by the Time-Out Sports Bar and the Best Supporter Award, sponsored by Cheap Monday Promotions. The other awards to be presented at the party include, Male Dancer of the Year, Female Dancer of the Year, , Best Slang Award, Best Dance Moves, Selector of the Year, the Bogle Award, Best New Selector and Most Improved Selector.

'The awards are really Stone Love’s way of saying thanks to our loyal partners who have supported Weddy Weddy over the years. At this year's anniversary, we will be presenting even more awards,' said Father Winston ‘Wee-Pow’ Powell. The event will feature a series of giveaways including additional awards for dancers and other special awards.

Since its inception, Weddy Weddy has been consistent in the high energy and

entertainment value offered in dancehall culture. Internationally acclaimed and highly favoured by Jamaicans, the event is known for its style and trend-setting fashion and culture in the dancehall sphere as it is one of the institutions which DJs, dancers, stylists, artistes and followers alike look towards for credibility of any new style in the dancehall.

Through videos, sound bites and other recordings, the event has become famous world-wide for the energy level and unique styles showcased.

Weddy Weddy celebrates 11 years on Wednesday, July 29 at Stone Love Headquarters and is sponsored by, Downsound Records, Time Out Sports Bar, Cheap Monday Promotions and British Link Up Promotions.  Admission to the anniversary party is $500 at the gate.
