Richie Stephens and LUST for Soul in the Sun

Richie Stephens and LUST are confirmed to bring the Jamaican warmth to the October Soul in the Sun Music Festival. Stephens and the melodic quadruplet Lukie D, Thriller U, Singing Melody and Tony Curtis have guaranteed a musical seduction, female patrons cannot resist.

LUST completes the line-up Friday October 10 with Keith Sweat, Johnny Gill, Dru Hill and SILK. While Stephens appears on the stage on Saturday October 11 with the men of soul including Peabo Bryson, Jeffrey Osborne, Freddie Jackson, Howard Hewett and the soulful Regina Belle.

Junior Taylor, organiser of the event, believes the two acts are well suited for the line-up and completes the variety for both nights. “Soul in Jamaica is found in both R&B as well as Reggae and so we decided to seek the two acts we know can cover both genres with skilful vocals and amazing stage display.  Patrons will love their sets, Taylor said”

Richard Stephenson, better known as Richie Stephens is easily recognized as the man with Jamaica’s Golden Voice.  Over the past decade, he amassed a hit list which includes Joy,  By Your Side, Weakness for Sweetness, Legacy, featuring Cobra, Fight Back, featuring Garnet Silk, Winner, Pull Up, Maniac featuring Bounty Killer, Father I Love You and Take Me Away to name a few.  Stephens now owns his own Record Label, Pot of Gold Record and has recorded and released 11 albums.

The artiste is pleased with the concept of the show and encourages persons to attend. “It’s the first of an annual show and I like the approach. I love the attempt and I am encouraging people to come out and support it. We really need more of these Festivals in Jamaica. Jamaica is the home of Reggae Music also it’s the great home of music lovers. People in Jamaica love music, we love music to we heart so when we have events not just once or twice a year. It’s also a way to bring visitors to our shores. So let’s just be part of this Festival and lets support it so that it turns out to be a winner,” Stephens said.

The Quadruplet LUST came together after each member had launched solo careers and realised
their individual successes. With golden melodies, the group continues to set the bench mark for live and recorded music locally. Together, the group LUST is a 'goldmine' as one member puts it, each person bringing his individual success and experience to benefit the group as a whole.
