Dancehall sensation I-Octane continues his explosive musical journey with what is expected to be another stellar closing performance for Reggae Sumfest’s Dancehall night on Thursday, July 17.
The artiste will bring his brand of excitement to the Sumfest stage in a month. He has earned praises from fans and music critics alike following his energetic closing performance at last year’s show. While having performed at Reggae Sumfest for the last three years, last year was the first time the artiste closed dancehall night, a task set for only the best performers.
Johnny Gourzong, Summerfest Productions Executive Director revealed that I-Octane was a no-brainer to close dancehall night once again, stating, “I-Octane did an excellent job last year. He is an exciting and dynamic entertainer who had the people jumping right throughout his performance. This year I am expecting an even better performance.”
Armed with new tracks and a new album, I-Octane is ready for the thousands of fans expected to attend ‘The Greatest Reggae Show on Earth’. In March of this year the artiste released his highly anticipated sophomore album My Journey on the Tad's International label. The album has spawned hits such as Love You Like I Do and Lighter’s Up featuring Alaine as well as promising front runners It’s Alright featuring Gentleman and A Yah Wi Deh with Ky-Mani Marley.
I-Octane has come a long way since his debut at Reggae Sumfest as an opening act and through his fiery performances gradually worked his way up to appearing later on the festival to become a middle-order artiste in 2011, when he delivered a set that surpassed the expectations of the Reggae Sumfest crowd. Over the years, I-Octane has been consistent in his career and that has boosted him to become known as one of Jamaica's best artistes. With massive hits such as Lose a Friend, L.O.V.E Y.O.U and Gyal A Gi Me Bun I-Octane has the right selection of songs to wow the crowd.
Reggae Sumfest will be staged July 13 – 19 with a Beach Party on Sunday, July 13 at Aquasol Beach, the All White Party on Tuesday, July 15 at Pier 1 and stage shows from Thursday to Saturday at Catherine Hall. The festival will feature some of the greatest local and international performers.
