Germany Welcomed Sean Paul

Grammy award-winning dancehall artiste Sean Paul has completed his European Summer Tour on a very high note.

The tour kicked off mid-May and spanned four countries: Germany, Switzerland, France, Portugal and the UK.

The Gimmie The Light artiste says he was specially welcomed with open arms in France and Germany with one instance seeing 45,000 persons coming out in the pouring rain to see him on stage. The first three of four shows were completely sold out.

According to the artiste, “For the last seven years, France has been a big territory for me and Germany second, now this year Germany is on par with how France has been responding.”

Sean Paul surprised fans on stage by doing special renditions of his hit collaborations She Makes Me Go and What About Us recorded with Iranian born artiste Arash and UK Pop Group The Saturdays respectively. “Those songs added a little surprise to my set over there,” he said.

What About Us peaked at number 4 in Germany and Number 1 on the country’s Dance Music Chart.

The artiste is now currently working on his sixth studio album that will be named by one lucky Twitter follower before the end of summer. The album is due out in early September and features his latest hit Entertainment featuring Hip Hop artistes 2Chainz and Juicy J and Other Side of Love. The album is produced by Maejor Ali, SixOne Young, Young Yonny and Chef on the Atlantic/VP Label.

On the upcoming album, Sean Paul says that fans can expect a mix of Pop, Dance music, Hip Hop and Dancehall.

“I shy away from riddims that don’t have a unique sound. I don’t want to flood the market with too much of a particular type of song. I miss really good Dancehall riddims. Right now Dance music is a big trend and I’ve been messing with Track music with varying tempos and sounds. I want to show my diversity on this album. I can do really whichever music it is and inject dancehall in it and it still feels good,” he said.

Sean Paul’s last album Tomahawk Technique, released in 2010, earned him a Grammy nod last year for Best Reggae Album.

The next stop for Sean Paul is the Hotel W in Chile on Sunday, August 11 along with the Shamans concert band. The artiste is giving fans a chance to follow him to Chile via Gleaner Online (http://www.jamaica-gleaner.com) beginning Thursday, August 8.
