Reggae’s princess and reggae’s messenger to reign at Coke Zero concert

Reggae songstresses Etana and Tessanne Chin are set to blaze at the concert on everyone’s lips and this month’s sweetest entertainment event. Set to transform the LIME Golf Academy into a mecca for music lovers, the Coke Zero concert will see a feature performance from international superstar Sean Kingston.

The ultra-popular Etana released her debut album The Strong One on the VP Records label last year is known for strong lyrical and vocal content and soul-stirring performances to much fanfare, and has racked up an enviable track record of outstanding performances around the world. Etana has copped several awards last year, including the EME Awards for Female Vocalist of the Year and Best Album, the CVM People’s Choice Award for Most Admired Female Artiste, the HYPE TV award for Reggae Singer of the Year, and the Youth View Award for Cultural Artiste of the Year. She also picked up two IRAWMA awards, to add to the one she won in 2008.

Etana recently sent the entertainment industry afire yet again, releasing all of three videos at once for the singles Free, August Town and Happy Heart. The undisputed reigning princess of reggae has said that she’s putting in the work for her sophomore album, which she hints will be available in early 2010.

Tessanne Chin has been steadily making her name in the music industry as a timeless performer. She is by no means your run-of-the-mill artiste, and no one can deny that this sizzling songbird is talented and able to hold her own, and a note as well. The shapely 20-something year-old woman is bringing the sounds of alternative music to our indigenous reggae sounds and people are liking it, clearly evidenced by the success of her singlesMessenger, BlackBooks, and insanely popular, Hideaway. Ineradicably nicknamed ‘Jamaica’s Messenger’ after being the only artiste invited to perform at the PUMA/Team Jamaica Olympic after-party in China in August 2008, Tessanne has been adding to her repertoire of music and totting up her performances over the globe.

Both women are known to give ripping performances, and they promise nothing but the best come Saturday January 16, something Coca-Cola Country Manager Chris Hardy is happy about.

“We looked at the line-up and knew that for the quality concert we wanted to produce and the entertainment we wanted to provide, we could not have left off Etana or Tessanne. We’re looking forward to sweet performances from them!” Hardy exclaimed.

With feature performances from platinum-selling, dancehall-flavoured international artiste Sean Kingston, alongside Elephant Man, D’Angel, Chino, Laden, Demarco, QQ, Alaine, Tifa, Ding Dong , the Coke Zero concert is set to ignite the entertainment calendar for 2010 as it takes over the grounds of the LIME Golf Academy on Saturday January 16. Tickets are available at any branch of Mothers or Burger King Restaurants, and may be collected by redeeming three Coke Zero labels and $100.
