No Visa Needed For CARIFESTA

In order to facilitate the movement of visitors in and out of Guyana during the hosting of CARIFESTA X, the government has decided to waive the departure tax and to relax the visa requirements for those visitors arriving in Guyana during the hosting of the event. The waiver of the tax will only be for those who arrive in and depart from Guyana during the event and not one month after.
This was announced by Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr Roger Luncheon, who also announced that the administration will be providing a ‘wide sweep’ of visa-free travel to Guyana during the time the event is being hosted in the country. According to Luncheon, as long as visitors provide some evidence that they are coming to Guyana to participate in or to visit during CARIFESTA, there will be visa-free travel afforded.
